WHAT IS A HERNIATED DISC?
A disc becomes herniated when the intervertebral disc (the cushion in between the vertebrae) is injured. The middle portion of that disc is then pushed out, which in turn causes pain and irritation in the spinal nerves.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF A HERNIATED DISC?
Depending on where the injury is located, you may feel all or none of the common symptoms. Most patients feel localized numbness, loss of strength, irritation or pain.
HOW DO WE TREAT HERNIATED DISCS?
First, we will evaluate your posture, nervous system and joints, in order to better understand the root of your back issues. Using our Applied Kinesiology assessment, we will also be looking for any muscular compensation causing stress and tension to other body parts. Once we identify the cause of your injury, we will treat you in order to reduce tension and inflammation using the appropriate chiropractic techniques. We will then recommend a series of exercises meant to improve the flexibility of your back and partly alleviate the pain and discomfort.
